Mark Hurt
Director of Application Sciences
Mark is a native Virginian who grew up on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay in the Northern Neck. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, where he studied Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Mark quickly found his way to positions in research labs focusing on the impact of retroviral infection on human health at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He then moved on to join Affymetrix, Inc. in a product development role, where he later transitioned to the role of Field Application Scientist (FAS) supporting Affymetrix’ revolutionary global gene expression microarray technology, and the die was cast.
