Originally from India, Swetha moved to the USA to obtain a master’s degree in Biotechnology from Georgetown University. After finishing her MS, she worked as a Research Assistant at Johns Hopkins University. At JHU’s Schizophrenia center, she got introduced to the genomics world and worked on resequencing some of the schizophrenia candidate genes from the patient samples to detect rare variants. She later pursued her Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Molecular biology at the State University of New York's Upstate Medical University. Her doctoral dissertation research is focused on cellular pH homeostasis, specifically, signaling between pH regulatory proteins. She switched to the genomics field again for her postdoctoral at UNC-Chapel Hill and studied epigenetic regulation of transcription using fruit flies as a model system. She joined Bioskryb as a Scientist in January 2021.

Swetha enjoys reading, cooking, playing with her son, and traveling.
